Did you know that there is a rise in women as young as 21 being diagnosed with breast cancer with no genetic predisposition for breast cancer? What possibilities could be causing women to be diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at such a young age?
While it’s still early to draw definitive conclusions, oncologists have been finding that many of these women are keeping cell phones in their bras. Tumor clusters have been the same size and on the same side as where cell phones are being kept.
Cell phones are powerful 2-way radios, a radio transmitter and a radio receiver. They are constantly sending out signals, even when we’re not on a call. Unlike FM radio which operate at around 100 MHz, your cell phone uses high frequency radio waves that are magnitudes higher at around 2 GHz (20 times stronger). By placing your phone near your breast, these signals have nowhere to go but through the soft tissue of the breast.
Recently, California’s Department of Public Health issued new guidelines advising people to keep their phone away from your body. Even Apple advises to keep phones away from your body at ½ an inch or more.
