Fresh fears have been raised over the role of cell phones in brain cancer after new evidence reveals that rates of Glioblastoma Multiforme, a malignant and often fatal type of brain cancer, have doubled in the last two decades.
The recent study published by the Journal of Public Health and Environment, analyzed 79,241 malignant brain tumors over 21 years and found that cases of Glioblastoma Multiforme have increased 140% from 1995 to 2015. The study is the first to analyze the incidences of different types of malignant tumors. The group said the increasing rate of tumors in the frontal temporal lobe “raises the suspicion that mobile and cordless phone use may be promoting gliomas”. The study adds to numerous previous studies linking cell phones to cancer and highlights the importance of taking reasonable and prudent measures to protect oneself.
